Traditional Ayurvedic massage oil for joints, muscles and nerves
Mahanarayana Thailam is one of Ayurveda’s most highly regarded classical massage oils, traditionally prepared from an extensive blend of herbs infused into nourishing sesame oil and cow’s milk. This authentic formulation is designed to support the health of the muscles, joints, bones and nervous system while promoting flexibility, comfort and freedom of movement.
Mahanarayana Thailam has been used for generations as part of traditional Ayurvedic massage (Abhyanga). It is especially valued for balancing Vata, nourishing the tissues and supporting recovery following physical exertion or age-related stiffness.
Main benefits
- Relieves Joint and Musculoskeletal Pain: Commonly used for conditions like osteoarthritis (Sandhivata), rheumatoid disorders, spondylosis, and backache. It penetrates deep into tissues to ease stiffness, swelling, and chronic aches.
- Improves Joint Lubrication and Mobility: The warming (Ushna) and unctuous (Snigdha) nature of the sesame oil base helps lubricate joint capsules, nourish cartilage, and restore range of motion.
- Soothes Nerve Pain and Sciatica: Effective in managing neuromuscular and neurological issues like sciatica (Gridhrasi), nerve compression, numbness, and tingling.
- Strengthens Muscle and Connective Tissues: Ideal for muscle fatigue, weakness, post-injury recovery, and athletic strain.
- Supports Post-Workout and Geriatric Care: Counteracts age-related Vata dryness and tissue degeneration in elderly individuals while aiding rapid muscle recovery in physically active adults.
- Promotes Overall Relaxation: Body massage (Abhyanga) with this warm oil calms an overactive nervous system, reduces stress, and supports restful sleep.
- Supports Recovery and Flexibility: Regular massage helps maintain healthy muscles, tendons and connective tissues while promoting comfortable movement throughout the body.
- Traditional Abhyanga Massage Oil: Suitable for daily self-massage or professional Ayurvedic massage to support long-term musculoskeletal health and overall vitality.
