Key ingredients and their actions
- Millet flakes: Millet provides a light multigrain base and contributes a pleasantly mild, slightly nutty flavour.
- Rice flakes: Rice flakes soften readily during cooking and help create the smooth, comforting texture of the finished porridge.
- Quinoa flakes: Quinoa adds variety to the grain blend and provides naturally occurring plant protein and fibre.
- Grapes: Dried grapes contribute natural sweetness and a soft, fruity flavour that complements the grains and spices.
- Dates: Dates add sweetness, richness and a soft texture without the need for added sugar.
- Sunflower seeds: Sunflower seeds provide a gently nutty flavour and naturally contain unsaturated fats, protein and minerals.
- Pumpkin seeds: Pumpkin seeds add texture and richness while contributing naturally occurring plant protein and beneficial fats.
- Cashews: Cashews give the porridge a creamy, satisfying quality and are traditionally valued as a nourishing food.
- Almond flour: Finely ground almonds add richness and help produce a softer, creamier consistency.
- Ceylon cinnamon: Cinnamon gives the blend a naturally sweet aroma and gentle warmth, making it especially suitable for a comforting breakfast.
- Ginger: Ginger contributes warming, stimulating qualities and is traditionally used in Ayurveda to support comfortable digestion.
- Cardamom: Cardamom adds a sweet, fragrant flavour and is traditionally appreciated for supporting the digestion of richer foods.
- Pippali: Also known as long pepper, pippali provides gentle warmth and is traditionally used in Ayurvedic cooking to kindle the digestive fire, or Agni.
- Black pepper: Black pepper supplies mild pungency and complements the warming qualities of the other spices.
