Sathadhautha Ghrutham Ointment – traditional Ayurvedic care to soothe & nourish your skin
Sathadhautha Ghrutham Ointment by Vaidyaratnam is a traditional Ayurvedic topical preparation designed to cool, soothe and nourish the skin. The formulation combines ghee with a decoction of carefully selected Ayurvedic botanicals including Udumbara, Plaksha, Ashvattha, Nyagrodha and Manjishta.
An Ayurvedic skin cream is made by washing organic ghee 100 times with water in a pure copper vessel. This extensive process transforms the heavy, oily ghee into a light, cooling, fluffy white cream that penetrates deep into the skin layers.
Traditionally used where excess heat and aggravated Pitta are associated with burning or irritated skin, this rich ointment provides a protective, moisturising layer while helping to keep the skin comfortable and well conditioned. It is particularly suited to areas of dry, sensitive or heat-affected skin and is intended for external use.
Main benefits
- Soothes hot and uncomfortable skin: Traditionally used in Ayurveda to calm burning sensations and skin discomfort associated with excess heat and aggravated Pitta.
- Provides intensive moisturisation: The ghee-based preparation helps soften dry skin and supports the skin’s natural moisture barrier.
- Cooling and calming: Sathadhautha Ghrutham is traditionally valued for its cooling qualities, making it useful for skin that feels hot, sensitive or irritated.
- Nourishes dry and stressed skin: The rich ointment base helps condition rough, dry or uncomfortable areas and leaves the skin feeling softer and more supple.
- Supports healthy-looking skin: Traditional Ayurvedic herbs including Manjishta and several species of Ficus are included for their long-established use in preparations intended to maintain healthy skin.
- Protective ointment texture: Beeswax and the moisturising ointment base form a protective layer over the skin, helping to reduce moisture loss.
